Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the feature. I have a number of PDF files that I need to add the filename of the PDF as a header on the new output file.

When I use the batch print to add <filename> it generates text but with FILE+(a random number) as opposed to the actual filename.

What am I doing wrong?? Thanks

Hi,

Hopefully, I will have an explanation for you.

Before I begin, just a reminder that automatic filenaming is done by specifying "<AUTOMATIC>" rather than "<filename>"

The <AUTOMATIC> substitutes the filename provided in the printer output file. Some programs such as MS Office does a great job of providing the filename in that field. Other programs provide the name of the program only. Other programs leave that field blank.

When the field is blank, I substitute "Doc_Name_Unknown" as the filename since I don't know what the filename is.

The numbers after might be a sequence number. Please check the Trailer Digits and PDF Overwrite settings.

   I hope that helps.

   Cheers!
