Does anyone know of a lightweight twain capture program that can be used to scan to PDF Redirect?

Actually yes. I use a freeware program called "iCarbon" which allows me to send scanner output straight to PDF reDirect, and yes, it's lightweight.

Thank you. But for some reason it will only take input from the flat-bed part of the scanner, and doesn't work with the autofeeder. I tried all its options and settings.
I will have to keep using my old version of ScanDirect that came with Paperport7, which far too 'heavy' and obsolete. The software that came with the MFD is rubbish,
