Topic: Which version of Adobe PDF Reader to use? Posted: 02 Mar 04 at 9:07PM |
I have received a number of e-mails requesting an explanation concerning the compatibility of the PDF files created with PDF reDirect and PDF reDirect Pro with Adobe's PDF Reader (available for free from Adobe's web site). Here is a summary:
*These are known bugs with the Reader as reported by Adobe on their web site. |

Now the hard part... Which version do I like best?
I have v4.0.5, v5.0.5 and v6.0.2 installed at the same time on my main computer (for testing purposes). I use v4.0.5 as my default PDF Reader, simply because it loads the quickest. I like v6.0.2 because the quality of the pictures displayed on the screen is outstanding, and v5.0.5 is my least favorite because, like v6.0.x, it is slow to load. Edited by Michel_K17 |

Apparently, I am not the only one having difficulties with the long load times of the latest (v6) Reader from Adobe. PC Magazine Editor John Dvorak also complains about the long load times on his column here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1631425,00.asp There are, however, some good news as reported in this forum by a user of PDF reDirect. He has found that some of the optional plug-ins can be relocated, and the splash screen turned off to get it to load quickly. Just go here for details: http://www.exp-systems.com/forum_exp/forum_posts.asp?TID=44&PN=1 |

You can get older versions of the PDF Reader from Adobe's archive web page [HERE]
