PDF reDirect Freeware v2.2.8 is now available (5 Aug 08) for download. This version is officially released.

DOWNLOAD
  • The full installation program can be downloaded from [HERE] (6.1 MB)
  • The upgrade from v2.1.x to v2.2.6 can be downloaded from [HERE] (2.2 MB)
    • Windows Vista users: Please use the full install above.
  • The installation program, and all files included have been scanned by a virus checker. The report is shown in the last post.
WHAT's NEW with v2.2.8 (since v2.2.5)
  • IMPROVED: Improve compatibility w Acrobat v7 & v8 by not removing Printer Files after Install.
  • IMPROVED: Printer Installer now goes to 100% complete when removing printers.
  • IMPROVED: Added ANSI paper sizes to printer (requires full re-install)
  • IMPROVED: quality of preview

WHAT's NEW with v2.2.5 (since v2.2.4)
  • FIXED: "OK" Prefs  button not appearing if the monitor was set to 120dpi.

COMPATIBILITY
  • So far, limited initial testing has been completed successfully in Windows 98SE, 2000, XP, Vista 32/64 bit and Windows Server 2003.
  • No testing has been done on Windows ME and XP64 (but they should work).
  • This version is not yet compatible with Windows Vista.
  • The new versions 2.1 and 2.2 are no longer compatible with Windows 95 and Windows NT. For these, you should continue using the v2.0 available [here].

Hi!

I installed the update. When I go to "Preferences|Batch printers", I get the following error message:

Three glitches found:

Go to "Preferences|Batch printers".
Look at the fields "Filename header" and "(Example)". I see "<AUTOMATIC>" and "Sample_Name(0c0e).pdf"
Click on the "Printer" dropdown field and select the same printer.
The fields will change their values to "AUTOMATIC" (without <> symbols) and "AUTOMATIC1.pdf"

If you enter into the "Trailer digits" field that displays no value at all, then the value will change to "(None)".
Click on the "Printer" dropdown field and select the same printer.
The field will change it's value to 000000.

FTP port is displayed as (None) for imported batch printers.
If you enter into the field, it will change to "21".

   Small correction: your comments are applicable to the "Professional" version [here]. I will be creating a new "Beta" forum topic which will make it easier to read all the comments on the latest Beta version.

   Thank you for all of your comments: very good description of the probs. I'll work on addressing these issues right away.

   One remark: The FTP Port Number that "jumps" to 21 is because 21 is the default port setting. I will add a drop-down with a single entry that says "21 (Default)" which will hopefully be more obvious.

Hi Michel,

"21" did not suprise me. I know it is default for FTP. I was suprised that default value "21" did not appear when I first opened "Preferences|Batch printers". It appeared only after I entered into the field. This is a bit confusing.

P.S. Did not find any special topic in Beta forum. I'm writing here so that the whole discussion would be in one place.

   Just to let you know that the Beta to v2.1.905 has been released to address the bugs that you found. Thanks! Also note that the bugs only apply  to the "Professional" version (this is the posting for the freeware version). The Post for v2.1.905 Professional is [here].
