I get this question a lot these days. Yes, PDF reDirect and PDF reDirect Pro are compatible with Windows 7.

Cheers!

Hi Michel,

Can I take this one step further. Is PDF reDirect compatible with windows 7, 64 bit?

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes it is! (I use it daily on Win 7 64 bits).

For the technical details: I have made the changes necessary and re-compiled the port monitor to a 64 bit app. The main user interface is still a 32 bit app, so will appear in the (x86) program folder - but still runs just fine.

From the user's perspective: it works fine, just like on the 32 bit version of Windows.

   Cheers!

Hello Michel,

I'm afraid I have a problem with my Windows 7 64 bit installation that I don't have on my other two Windows 7 32 bit or XP 32 bit machines.  On the 64 bit machine, PDF reDirect just doesn't ever open the newly saved document automatically although, of course, the "View in PDF reader after saving" option is checked.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled and done everything else I could think of, but the bug is still there on my 64 bit desktop pc.  I realize, however, that that is no proof that it has anything to do with the 64 bit OS.

Has anybody else had this problem?

It's not a great problem and I still think PDF reDirect is a very good program, but I would like to be able to use the auto-view option and would be grateful for a tip that would help me get it to work.

Thanks
Tiny

Hi,

It works for me (Win 7 64bit). You might want to check your ".pdf" association to make sure that your PDF files are properly associated with your PDF Reader. It might be messed up if you installed 3rd party PDF Reader, and then removed it. You could try to remove and re-install your PDF Reader.

If you want to fix it manually, Google search on how to fix your file association. You may find is that there are various "verbs" associated with each file extension such as "open", or "print", etc. The one that PDF reDirect uses is "open".

   I hope this helps.
