I have scanned many pages as a jpg file and would like to merge them into one PDF file/document. However, when I open up PDF reDirect, I only have an option of merging PDF files. When I open the folder with the jpg's it does not show up the files. HELP!

Hi,

   Here are the instructions on how to use PDF reDirect. Also, you can look at the help file that comes with PDF reDirect - which explains on how to convert any files (including pictures) to PDF by printing them to the PDF reDirect printer.

  • Right-Click the jpg files in Windows Explorer,
  • Select "Preview".
  • Once you see the picture(s) in the preview appear, choose to Print them,
  • Select the PDF reDirect printer.
  • Your pictures will be converted to PDF, and will appear automatically in the Merge list.
  • Continue printing your pictures until you have all of them in the Merge list.
  • Finally, merge them together by selecting "save".

when I right click on the folder, there is no "preview" option, only explore, open, search, copy, paste, etc.... When I use "open" then I can see the files. I am not sure what you mean by printing them, but I will try.

XP. I wouldn't touch 7 if you paid me all the money in the world. Too much bs stuff there that I would NEVER ever use, and the things I do use are hidden and hard to find.

Hi Randy,

   Solution for conversion from JPG to PDF is the second post in this thread. This will work for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

   A solution for Windows XP is to highlight all of the JPGs, right-click, and choose "Print...". This will perform the conversion using the default Paint program.

I havent tried to convert jpgs to PDF as yet but wonder if you can answer 2 questions; will the photos print in colour, as I have read somewhere that they will only print in black and white and how do I get them into the right place on the document?

Hi,

   Yes, they will print in colour.

   You have a couple of option. You can use the Windows "paint" program, and print from there. In the Page Setup, you can set the size and location on the page.

   I am also very fond of the Windows "Preview" feature. From there, you can print (ie convert to PDF) multiple pictures very quickly, using various formats (one picture per page, or 2 per page, etc.).

If i make the photo the correct size how do i get it onto the PDF tried control +V and that doesnt work?

Hi,

   Okay, I think I understand.

   PDF reDirect is a PDF creator, not a PDF editor. For example, you can create a Word document (add your picture there), and then convert (create) a PDF from that.

   If you want a PDF editor to modify or edit an existing PDF, your best bet is to use a program like Adobe Acrobat or NitroPDF. The alternative is to use a program to convert (www.nuance.com) the PDF to a Word document so that you can modify the original content, and then convert back to PDF.
