Someone sent me an e-mail today telling me that he uses style sheets to produce background colour in cells within an html table, but that they do not show up when printed. The solution to this problem is to turn on "Print Background Color and Images" in Internet Explorer and/or Mozilla. The screenshots below show you how it's done.
