When installing, everything seems to appear fing until I get a "Printer" window with the message "Operation could not be completed".

The printer driver seems to be installed. If I open the properties and print a test page nothing happens. But if I open the program from the start menu first and then try printing, the printer output appears in the window.

This is not the first time I've installed it, just the first time on this computer. I've never had anything like this.

Hi,

That is weird. I'm guessing (Shot in the dark) that the registry entry that specifies where the program is located did not get written.

If you are familiar with the registry editor, then great, if not, follow these steps very carefully, and do not delete any values, keys, entries as you could really mess up your computer. I do not take responsibility for any damage you could do. Or so says my lawyer
  • Go to your "Start" menu, and choose "Run.."
  • Type "RegEdit" and click "OK"
  • Navigate in the Left-hand-side to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SYSTEM >> CurrentControlSet >> Print >> Monitors >> PDF reDirect Monitor
  • In the menu, choose "Edit" >> "New" >> "String Value"
  • Right-click on "New Value #1" and choose "rename" and enter "Path2App"
  • Double-click it, and enter the following: "C:\Folder\Sub-Folder" (you'll need to edit that to match your installation folder)
  • Quit the Registry Editor

Please note that you need to specify a different path if you chose something else than the default when you installed the program. If you think that you used the default path, then try: "C:\Program Files\PDF reDirect".

NOTE: For anybody else reading this post: this registry entry will be missing if you installed the program to the default location (C:\Program Files\PDF reDirect). This is normal, and this registry entry is not required.

Here is a screenshot of what it should look like:

I hope that helps. let me know if it does not as we can try something else (please e-mail me at exp_(at)_exp-systems.com
