Topic: Output issues from Excel Posted: 21 Jul 10 at 7:45AM |
I have an Excel spreadsheet that acts as a "Dashboard" of information for my business. When I print this sheet to a printer, either B&W or color, it prints fine. When I print this sheet to a PDF using PDF reDirect, some of the right-hand columns and cells are not handled properly.
Everything appears fine in print preview, but the translation to PDF leaves the background color, lines, text color, etc. on a few columns and cells near the right-hand side of the page. Everything else on the page is fine and it happens on the same cells every time.
I thought it might have something to do with margins, etc. but I've adjusted them dramatically to test and the same cells have issues. I don't have the same problem on other sheets, so I'm thinking it is something specific to the way these cells are formatted. Some of the cells (not all) affected use conditional formatting if that has anything to do with it. It shouldn't since the print preview looks fine so Excel should be sending the proper formatting out to the print driver. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Which version of Excel are you using? If it's Excel 2007, you could try setting the resolution of the PDF reDirect printer to 300 dpi, and hopefully that will help. If not, and the data is not confidential, can you send me a sample file (Excel and PDF) so I can see the problem 1st hand? That might help me troubleshoot. My e-mail is exp [at] exp-systems [dot] com. Cheers! |

I'm using Excel 2010. The dpi setting was at 3600dpi, so I tried your suggestion and set it down to 300 dpi. Problem solved! THANK YOU!!!! |
